			Statement of Work: What is the SOW and TOA?
			The Statement of Work (SOW) will serve as our mutual contract. Prior to any work being done or payment being made, a SOW will be negotiated that explicitly outlines the work that will done, as well as an estimate of time (work hours) and days to complete, and method and schedule for payment. See my recent Service Statistics to get a glimpse of my job turn around rates. There are different kinds of SOW agreements that can be negotiated. These are listed below. Per hour agreement: This is the most widely used SOW agreement by most graduate students, faculty researchers and other professional clients. For this SOW, the client agrees to pay a per hour rate. Retainer agreement: Generally reserved for long term projects, but also for graduate thesis consulting. This agreement requests a fee up-front (usually in the range of 4 hours work), for which I provide support as required. Payment must be made by credit card. When the retainer fee has been expended in equivalent work hours, either another SOW is negotiated or an appropriate fee arrangement is made. Job agreement: This category is reserved for large, longer term projects. The SOW will estimate a total cost of the services and payment method will be negotiated. The Terms of Agreement form (TOA) is a basic form located at the end of the SOW where you will indicate that you accept the terms described in the SOW. Preferred payment method is by credit card (via PayPal), but International money orders (outside Canada) and personal checks (within Canada only) are accepted in some cases. Delivery of "results" will occur only after full payment is made (or otherwise negotiated). In the case of negotiated installment payments, full payment must be made prior to delivery of "results" (or as otherwise negotiated).
