Frequently Asked Questions...
When sending a quare wave thru an R-C and C-R circuit and obsreving on a scope using a passive probe, why is?
why is the rise time that is measured > rise time calculated...
Answer:
should not
or at least should not be drastically different
it depends on the speed (rise time), if the probe is calibrated properly (compensated)
use 10X probe as it places less load on the circuit
if you observe this only with a passive probe it is because of the probe loading
the circuit source impedance will also affect the degree of probe loading
if you get a trace like this

the probe is overcompensated and will show slow risetimes
