I have a 3 phase vacuum pump that i want to control?
the vacuum pump itself is controlled by a start stop unit which is a telemec 3 phase contactor combined with motor overload. the start stop works fine but what i want to add to this circuit is an automatic stop so that if someone forgets to press the stop button before leaving i dont want to have the vacuum pump running all of the time. how can i control it to say stop after a half hour or so could i add a timer to stop it and then when the start button is pressed the vac pump starts again or is something more complex needed?
ok so i had a look on the radionics website and saw some off delay timers the link is attatched here would this type be suitable for what i am doing.

if so is this timer just wired directly to the normally open contactors of the contactor and do i need a seperate 230v supply for the timer itself
Answer:
Post how long the pump is supposed to run at a time. If the pump needs to run all day, you may need someone to restart it every hour when the timer runs out. You may want an 8-hr timer. Get a relay that runs on the control voltage for the contactor (might be 120VAC, but check) and be sure the contacts are rated for the control circuit. Try to find a schematic for the contactor and buttons. It might be a "typical" from telemec, or maybe some kind of mark-up from the people who installed the motor. You will likely put time-delay-open relay contacts in series with the "stop" button.
